Apple Watch sales ban temporarily halted by US appeals court
According to Bloomberg, Apple has successfully appealed the International Trade Commission’s sales ban on Apple Watch Series 9 and Apple Watch Ultra 2, and the U.S. Court of Appeals asked to suspend the implementation of the sales ban on Apple’s latest smartwatches.
The sales ban is part of an ongoing patent infringement dispute over blood oxygen sensing-related technology. Masimo, an American medical technology company, has filed a lawsuit against Apple, accusing it of patent infringement on its blood oxygen sensing technology.
Apple had previously requested a delay in implementing the ITC’s ban on the Apple Series 9 and Ultra 2 series of watches. Apple moved to extend the moratorium pending its appeal, and the court gave the ITC until January 10 to respond.
It is worth mentioning that Apple Watch Series 9 and Apple Watch Ultra 2 are currently back on sale in some Apple retail stores in the United States, and all stores will return to stock by December 30, local time.
Additionally, Apple will likely be able to sell Apple Watch models through most of January, if not longer, depending on the court's ruling.
